Maker: Simeon North - Middletown CT.
This model 1816 Simeon North pistol is in original flint. This pistol is very well marked in all of the correct places, screw heads, backstrap, barrel band, under the pan, it matches everywhere. What is very unique about this pistol is that it is marked OA Oliver Allen on the barrel where the P US normally is seen, and it the top of the letter P and I assume the US is below, it is partially obliterated, is above the touchole, where the barrel inspector usually stamped. The stampings are reversed on this gun, maybe a Monday morning or a Friday afternoon ?? OA Oliver Allen cartouche is also stamped on the stock flat. The ramrod appears to be a replacement, although well made.
